Based on a recent article in The Globe and Mail, research finds that alcohol advertisements push underage girls to drink more. Through the lavish, fun, and “cool” lifestyles in the media, along with the pretty models displaying certain forms of beauty that young girls are susceptible to, the chances that minors become attracted to these ads are high. Alcohol ads are more of a concern for the female youth because the biological process involved is much different than for male youth. Moreover, further research shows that alcohol consumption for underage girls has increased more than 14% since 2003. Furthermore, a study was conducted for kids that are exposed to alcohol advertising in grade 7, that admit to liking what they see in advertisements. These kids are more likely to have severe alcohol consumption problems by the tenth grade. Young-girl-with-Beer-Bottle
