On May 21st 2013, World War 3 of the next-gen consoles will begin. With Sony already having revealed the PS4 in February, Microsoft itself will be unveiling their own new weapon in this clash of the video game titans.
The Long Wait Is Over
Microsoft will finally be revealing the long awaited follow up to the extremely successful Xbox 360. They have been awfully quiet about this new console, which fans have dubbed the Xbox 720. There have been many rumours regarding the console, including a new “always-online” feature which will require their customers to be connected to the internet at all times while using the console. Gamers are definitely eager to find out for sure if this is going to be the case.
Microsoft’s Game Plan
Microsoft’s silence is definitely keeping gamers on edge to see what new exciting possibilities may have been achieved. In the past, Microsoft used a direct-to-consumer strategy to market their gaming console. They revealed the Xbox 360 four days prior to their competitors, which proved to be very effective. By releasing their system early, it gave them a head start in the competition. They were able to gain an advantage by already having an established product while also making it cost friendly to customers. This was all happening while Sony’s PS3 was still trying to work the glitches out of the early systems they released. The Xbox 360 definitely put its stamp on history, claiming the throne for the last 7 and a half years.

What Will Be The Result?
Another battle is about to start in the video game world. Will Microsoft stay seated on the throne? Or will the rumoured revolutionary Sony PS4 bring them down and claim the top spot themselves? What do you think?
