According to Market Researcher, since the release of the new Iphone 5s, it has bumped Samsung’s Pride, Galaxy s4 out of the way, finding itself once again at the throne of the Smartphone Industry. To make matters even worse for Samsung, Apple has done something unique with its Product & Sales Strategy this time around. Instead of releasing one version of the Iphone 5, Apple has released the 5c as well as the anticipated 5s.The 5c is a discounted version enabling Apple to offer a cheaper substitute for its consumers. This is an effectual approach from Apple especially now that Market Researchers are telling us that even this discounted 5c is selling more than the s4. That’s two Apple phones ahead of Samsung’s s4!

Some critics would argue that Apple is just flooding the market with gadgets and not being efficient, but I believe this type of selling Strategy has its share of success in some cases, including right now. It is a similar approach to that of Blackberry when it released its z10; Not only did Blackberry release this touchscreen, user-friendly Smartphone, they also released it with the cheaper q10. Unlike the z10, the Blackberry q10 is another cheaper substitute with a keyboard instead of the touchscreen. By offering this substitute, Blackberry was able to retain its customers who are loyal to the keyboard, as well as retain those who perhaps thought the z10 was too pricey.

So far so good.

So far, this strategy has proved to be an efficient one. Now that it has been done by the two Greats, we will have to see how Samsung copes with this and the strategy it chooses when releasing its next phone…or two?
